Hedgehog Rescue is a voluntary group of individuals who care for sick, injured and orphaned hedgehogs, within our own homes in the South Gloucestershire, Bath, Somerset & Bristol.
Co-ordinated by Yvonne Cox, hedgehog carers look after the animals in their own homes, with many funding their own work. But some carers have so many hedgehogs to look after, they need financial support, so the money raised from adoptions, donations and sales go to help the carers pay for food, cages and medications etc.
Many hedgehogs are killed and injured every day in Britain. As well as the pain and suffering these animals endure, many young babies are left orphaned and have to be hand-reared before release.
As well as the road kills every year, humans are also responsible for many hedgehog deaths and injuries through the irresponsible disposing of litter, habitat detsruction and the use of garden tools & chemicals
Through education and awareness, Hedgehog Rescue hopes to encourage the public to consider the consequence of these actions and consider the implications to hedgehogs and other wildlife.
We hope you enjoy browsing the pages and that you learn more about our spiky friends.
We would welcome your support - why not adopt a hedgehog or send a donation to us.

She has responded well following her operation, as she is unable to be returned to the wild, she will remain with Yvonne as an education hedgehog
MURPHY was brought in after being savaged by a dog, He has proved to be very resiliIant, and following brilliant treatment by the vet, and the removal of some of his spines. The picture bottom left is the piece taken away from the dog. MURPHY seems to be doing very well and we have been able to remove the drains from him The wound is healing well & it looks like there will be a small area where there are no spines The picture bottom left is the piece taken away from the dog. Murphy has now gone to an enclosed garden.
Jac: A big thankyou to Sam your carer, as she has helped with advice and coming over to give Fudge the hedgehog his medication. Keep up the good work!
Lucy:Thank you very much again for your visit. Lots of families have said how much they enjoyed your talk and how much they learned from you.
Hilary: We would all like to thank you very much we had a really good time - you made it such a fun evening (as well as being very informative and well demonstrated, we loved all the little exhibits!) You are doing a fantastic job in conserving the dear old hedgehog, who now sadly, seems to be endangered - we all now know a lot more about how to help save them from needless harm and death. I find it so sad that making our lives easier always seems to make things worse for wildlife.
